Delhi reports 249 Covid-19 cases, the highest in six months
According to the health ministry of the state, the city reported 249 cases of Covid-19 which is a sharp jump of 38 per cent from the previous day of December 24. On Friday, 180 people were tested positive for Covid-19
The cases of Covid-19 is increasing in the Country’s capital as the government is making all efforts to contain the spread of the new variant, ie, Omicron.
According to the health ministry of the state, the city reported 249 cases of Covid-19 which is a sharp jump of 38 per cent from the previous day of December 24. On Friday, 180 people were tested positive for Covid-19.
It is not known as of now that how many of them are infected by the new variant of Omicron. This is also the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Delhi in the past six months.
There is a serious concern about the spread of Omicron which is a highly infectious variant and which is spreading three times higher than the previous variant called Delta.
Though many health experts believe that a lot of people in Delhi already have acquired natural immunity and there is a likelihood that they might not get reinfection. Experts also believe that Omicron is causing mild symptoms and its severity is very less.
However, the state government has made all preparations to meet any eventuality and have imposed restrictions on gathering and functions.
The Delhi government has banned all sorts of gatherings to celebrate Christmas and New Year as there these events might turn out to be super-spreader functions.
The city has also reported one death on December 25 which has taken the total number of death to 25, 104. Only in the month of December, there are six deaths so far.
