According to the report of news agency ANI, the Union Home Secretary reviewed the preparations of the central ministries, agencies and administration of Andaman and Nicobar regarding this storm.
The Meteorological Department says that this cyclone is expected to strengthen over the central Bay of Bengal on March 21, due to which heavy rain and strong winds will blow. The Union Home Ministry said in its official statement that in view of the threat of this storm, a team of NDRF has been deployed in Port Blair. Not only this, additional teams have also been asked to be ready. These teams will be airlifted if needed.
In a statement issued by the Union Home Ministry, it has been said that the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has made preparations for this storm. In view of the threat of storm, fishing, tourism and shipping activities have been stopped. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. According to the Union Home Ministry, the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Indian Coast Guard have been kept on standby.
Official sources said that the Union Home Secretary has instructed central ministries and agencies to keep a regular watch. Not only this, they have also been asked to be in touch with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert saying that the first cyclone of this year is going to develop in the Bay of Bengal around March 21. However, as it moves towards Bangladesh and northern Myanmar, it is not likely to have much impact in India.
