Congress Leader in Kerala Wayanad Joins BJP Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls
Also, he challenged Gandhi to announce that he would not run for office in Amethi.
Congress Leader in Kerala Wayanad Joins BJP: Wayanad's District Congress Committee general secretary resigned from the party on Saturday and joined the BJP.
P M Sudhakaran told the media after joining the saffron party that Rahul Gandhi, the Congress candidate for Wayanad, was inaccessible to even the district leaders.
Despite Rahul's inaccessibility even for the DCC office-bearer, Sudhakaran said. So you can imagine the condition of ordinary workers. If Rahul continues to represent Wayanad for another term, the district will die. “Is he ready to say he won’t contest from Amethi?” he asked, adding that he would work for the BJP candidate immediately.
Also, he challenged Gandhi to announce that he would not run for office in Amethi.
In a release, the BJP said that two other “prominent personalities” also joined. In the Wayanad constituency, the Left Democratic Front has fielded Annie Raja, a senior CPI leader. In the high range constituency, the BJP has selected K Surendran as its state chief.
After forming a new political party, UDF convenor for Kottayam District Sji Manjakadambil left the UDF to join the NDA. Kerala will vote on April 26.
