Commonwealth Games 2022 : Indian badminton team won silver, 13th medal in for India

The 22nd Commonwealth Games is being held in Birmingham, England. The caravan of these games is progressing rapidly after starting from 28th July.

India is also moving along with it. Four more medals came to his credit on the fifth day, after which our medal tally increased to 13. This includes five gold, five silver and three bronze medals. India has won the maximum eight medals in weightlifting, while two medals have come in judo, one medal each in badminton, table tennis and lawn balls. However, the journey is yet to come and many big events and players of India are waiting to make their debut.

This time the Commonwealth Games will be held from 28 July to 8 August. About 72 countries from all over the world are participating in it. From India, 213 players are participating in it.

India's women's team created history by winning gold in the final of the four event. India's team of Lovely Choubey, Pinky, Nayanmoni Saikia and Roopa Rani Tirkey defeated South Africa to win gold for the first time.

India's men's team captured gold for the second time in a row. The trio of Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai and Sharath Kamal retained the title after beating Singapore 3-1 in the final.

Vikas Thakur won another medal for India in weightlifting. He lifted a total of 346 kg in the men's 96 kg weight category and won the silver medal. This was India's third silver and eighth overall medal in weightlifting.

India's mixed team won silver. They suffered a 1-3 loss at the hands of Malaysia in the final. This is India's second consecutive medal in badminton at the Commonwealth Games.

Sreeshankar reached the final with a jump of 8.05 meters in the first attempt in the long jump. At the same time, Mohammad Yahia also managed to reach the final with a jump of 7.68 meters.
