He was a progressive ruler who revived ancient Hindu political traditions and promoted two Indian languages Marathi and Sanskrit. He replaced Persian with these two languages as the former used to be a dominant language in administrations and courts. He was seen as a pro-nationalist figure and many freedom fighters drew inspiration from him during the freedom movement.
He is also seen as a ruler who promoted and propagated Hinduism in the Country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remembered this brave king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and has paid his tributes on his Jayanti. The Prime Minister has tweeted from his Twitter handle and said that his outstanding leadership and emphasis on social welfare has been inspiring people for generations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his tweet, “I bow to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his Jayanti. His outstanding leadership and emphasis on social welfare have been inspiring people for generations.”
He added, “He was uncompromising when it came to standing up for values of truth and justice. We are committed to fulfilling his vision."
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu also remembers Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s contribution to the nation-building and said, "My tributes to legendary Maratha warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary.”
