CBI files chargesheet against thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar in Rs 200 crore extortion case

The CBI has filed a charge sheet on Friday against thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the extortion case of Rs 200 crore. The name of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez also surfaced in this case. After which, after interrogating Jacqueline about the matter, she was also presented before the court. Apart from Jacqueline, some other Bollywood actresses were also questioned in this case. It may be noted that a few days back, a Delhi court had granted interim bail to Jacqueline in a money laundering case of Rs 200 crore related to alleged thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

Earlier, on August 31, Judge Praveen Singh had asked Fernandez to appear before the court, taking cognizance of a supplementary charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had called Fernandez for questioning several times in connection with the investigation of the case. He was named as an accused for the first time in the supplementary chargesheet.

The ED's first charge sheet and a supplementary charge sheet did not mention him as an accused, however, the documents did mention the details of the statements of Fernandez and actress Nora Fatehi. According to the ED, Fernandez and Fatehi had received luxury cars and other expensive gifts from Chandrasekhar, in connection with which they were interrogated.

The ED had said that Fernandez's statements were recorded on August 30 and October 20, 2021, in which he admitted to receiving gifts from Chandrashekhar. According to the agency, Fatehi's statements were recorded on September 13 and October 14, 2021 and he also confessed to receiving gifts from the alleged swindler and his wife actress Leena Pauloz.
