BJP condemns Punjab police crackdown on teachers in CM’s rally
Videos, that have emerged from the place of incidents, have shown some disturbing pictures in which teachers are violently handled by the police force
Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned the brutal action of Punjab police on protesting teachers in Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's rally in Sangrur.
Videos, that have emerged from the place of incidents, have shown some disturbing pictures in which teachers are violently handled by the police force.
These qualified teachers were protesting against unemployment and the lack of job opportunities for them. They were shouting slogans and trying to make themselves heard during the rally.
However, the police team, present at the spot, tried to manhandle and assault them in a very inhuman fashion. In a video, a male protestor is being pushed to the ground and dragged for a few feet.
Similarly, a woman protestor can be seen being dragged and choked by a women constable. She even took the woman to a police van and put her inside. Other protestors are also hackled and misbehaved.
Many of them were arrested and taken to other destinations in a police van. Some of the protestors were pushed to the grown and beaten too. The police action was extremely unexpected as the protestors were only trying to shout slogans and there was no violent action on their part.
The violent behaviour of the police team has received sharp criticism from everywhere. The BJP in the state has condemned the use of brutal force by the Police.
“The teachers are protesting for jobs. They are jobless despite being so qualified. That’s the state of affairs in Punjab where the Congress government rules. It’s a shame where teachers are being treated worse than a criminal,” a BJP worker in Chandigarh said.
