The fourth term of Nitish Kumar as Bihar's Chief Minister has begun with a controversy. One of his Cabinet ministers, Mewalal Choudhary, had to tender his resignation under pressure from opposition parties.
Since he was inducted into the state cabinet three days ago, Choudhary was under constant attack for three-year-old corruption charges against him. It was alleged that in 2017 as vice-chancellor of Bhagalpur agriculture university, he was involved in irregularities in the appointment of faculties.
Ex. Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the leader of the main opposition party RJD, had questioned his selection in the cabinet.
He had ridiculed his appointment saying that what kind of education students of Bihar would get when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appointed Mewalaal Choudhary as Education Minister who have murder and corruption charges under sections 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC.
After Choudhary's resignation, Yadav once again reacted sarcastically saying Nitish Kumar is tired now and his ability to take logical decisions has also waned.
He alleged that the CM deliberately made a corrupt person as a minister and after criticism from everywhere made him step down. "It is a double standard and drama," Yadav said in a tweet.
