As a protest against the Central Government Policies which is affecting Bank Employees, several Central Trade Unions have called for a Nationwide Bandh on the upcoming Monday and Tuesday, that is on March 28 and March 29. In a social media post, “All India Bank Employees Association informed on a social media post that a joint forum of the banking sector will be joining the strike.”
Apparently, this bandh is being observed as a symbolization of the annoyance of the Bank Unions on the proposal of the central government to privatize the Public Sector Banks. This nationwide bandh is to demonstrate the anger on the Banking Laws Amendment Bill which paves way for the disinvestment of the Public Sector Banks. A few close sources of The National Bulletin (TNB) who have been a part of the Union said that “When something is government-owned, their main priority is supposed to be "Development of the society especially the marginalized sections" and to bridge the gap between to reduce the income disparity. They are supposed to be answerable to the general public. But when you privatize the public-owned enterprises, their main motto is profit, and they are not answerable to anyone.”
The State Bank of India has issued a notification informing its customers that banking services may be impacted on March 28 and 29. The unions said that the strike is being held to register their protest against the “anti-worker, anti-farmer, anti-people and anti-national policies” of the Central Government.
