Ballia firing case: UP police arrest primary accused, his two aides; arms recovered

The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested the primary accused and his two aides for allegedly killing a man over a dispute on the allotment of ration shops.
The victim 46-year-old Jai Prakash Pal was shot dead on October 15. It was alleged that Dheerendra Pratap Singh allegedly shot at Pal while a meeting was going on for the allocation of fair price shops in Ballia.
The UP police confirmed that Singh, who is BJP’s district unit president of ex-servicemen cell, was arrested from the polytechnic crossing on Lucknow-Ayodhya highway. His two other aides, Santosh Yadav and Marajeet Yadav were arrested from Ballia.
According to Police, Singh has admitted that he opened fire but that was in retaliation as the other group, led by one Krishna Kant Yadav, resorted to firing first. He allegedly told the police that his nephew Golu Singh critically injured in the firing and later on succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The UP police have, to date, arrested over eight people in the case. According to reports, eight named accused and over 20 unnamed accused are there in this case.
