Ashutosh Mishra, Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, posted in Basti, was arrested by the Criminal Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Crime Branch after reaching here on Tuesday in connection with the extortion and robbery from the Angadiya traders of Mumbai.

He is said to be the brother-in-law of the sacked IPS of Mumbai Police, Sairabh Tripathi, wanted in the case.
The Criminal Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch had reached the settlement three days ago. After collecting complete information, this team reached the commercial tax office along with the Kotwali police during the day on Tuesday. Assistant commissioner mobile team Ashutosh Mishra was working in the office, meanwhile the police team caught him. He is a resident of Inderlok Colony of Akbarpur police station area of Ambedkar Nagar district.
The Criminal Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch had contacted the Basti Police seeking help in the arrest of Ashutosh Mishra, Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in the desired Basti, in a case registered at a police station in Mumbai. Basti police cooperated in the investigation and arrest. Further action is to be taken by Mumbai Police itself.
