The formalities for the Singapore visit were to be completed by July 20, but the Lt Governor returned the file on July 21. The Delhi government has blamed the Center for this.
A statement has come from the Delhi government amidst the ruckus when Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal went to Singapore. According to the Delhi government, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not go to Singapore. The statement said that a lot of time was wasted in getting the necessary permission from the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre.
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the host country Singapore has shared updates on the change in invitation with the Delhi government. This information is with the Delhi Government. The ministry had received an application for political clearance on July 21, in which Kejriwal's visit to Singapore was mentioned. The statement of the Delhi government came again after the statement of Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arvindam Bagchi. In this, he said that the file related to the approval was lying with the LG for a long time.
The Delhi government said that the file sent on June 7 was returned by the Lieutenant Governor after about one and a half months on July 21. While the deadline till July 20 to complete the travel related formalities was also over. This intention of the Center was definitely fulfilled, but for this, the way the entire country had to be looked down upon among the global community, the Center is responsible for it.
Arvind Kejriwal wanted to go to Singapore to attend a conference on August 1. According to the legal process, the Delhi government had sought its approval from the LG, but this file was pending for a long time. It was claimed by the Delhi government that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been invited to the conference organized in Singapore. In this he will outline the development of Delhi. But no response came from LG office. However, after some time the file was rejected by the LG office. Giving the reason for this, it was said that there is no justification for the Chief Minister to go to the conference held in Singapore for the Mayors. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently. The letter expressed disappointment over not being allowed to go to Singapore.
