Health remains an important issue in the journey of Baba Amarnath. Many devotees also die on the way due to heart attack, but now the health department will provide adequate health facilities on both the routes. On Baltal road, where dispensaries and base hospitals will be built at eight places.
Preparations are underway to build dispensaries and base hospitals at around 20 places on Pahalgam road. For this, police and CRPF and some NGOs also organize medical camps on the Yatra route so that the devotees do not face any health-related problems.
For Amarnath Yatra, pilgrims travel through both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. The Baltal route is short and the travelers have to walk only about 16 kms but due to the inaccessible and mountainous route, there are many health related problems on this route. In view of this, the Health Department will deploy specialist doctors on the entire route.
Apart from the health department, the AYUSH department will also provide health facilities on both the routes of the journey. Preparations are going on for this. According to a high official of the department, camps will be set up at seven to ten places on both the demands. These will be finalized in the coming days.
