Air India slashes concessions on senior citizen and student fares from 50 percent to 25 percent
An Air India spokesperson said, “Even after this adjustment, the discount on base fare for both Air India students and senior citizens will be almost double as compared to other private airlines.”
Tata Group's airline Air India has halved the basic fare discount offered to senior citizens and students in economy class. According to the company's website, the revised discount in the basic fare has become effective from September 29. Till now Air India was giving 50 per cent discount in both these categories. 25% discount will be given. This discount will be available on select booking category in economy cabin. The Tata group acquired loss-making Air India from the government on January 27 this year.
The airline said that the discounted fares can be issued from Air India City Ticketing Office (CTO), Airport Ticketing Office (ATO), Call Center and www.airindia.in. The discount is valid on both one-way and round-trip bookings and is subject to the availability of seats. Air India has issued a statement saying that it has reduced the concessions for senior citizens and students from 50 per cent to 25 per cent. Air India said in a statement that the reduction in concessions for senior citizens and students is being done keeping in view the market situation.
After the reduction in concession, the basic fare discount for students and senior citizens will be almost double as compared to other private flight companies.
