Action on government officer in Morbi bridge accident, Chief Fire Officer Sandeep Jala suspended

The administration has taken the first major action in the bridge accident in Morbi, Gujarat. According to reports, Chief Fire Officer Sandeep Singh Zala has been suspended. This is the first major action against a government official in the case.

A large number of those who died in the accident were women and children. Gujarat Police has already arrested nine people in connection with this incident. These include from the ticket collector of the bridge to the contractor.
Regarding the latest arrest, Morbi District Officer G. T. Pandya said, 'The state urban development department has suspended the chief officer of Morbi municipality, Sandeep Singh Jala.' He said that the Resident Additional Collector of Morbi has been given additional charge of Chief Officer till further orders. Officials said the Morbi municipality had awarded the contract for repair and maintenance of the bridge to the Orewa group for 15 years.
