Accused Abbasi Was On The Radar Of Anti-Terrorism Squad Of UP Police
Several teams UP Police are raiding places belonging to Abbasi, including the Mumbai house where Abbasi spent his childhood.
Even after several days of the attack on PAC personnel stationed at Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, investigating authorities could not clarify the motive. The main suspect behind this incident is Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, a graduate of IIT Mumbai.
According to the police, on April 3, Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, while raising religious slogans, attacked the PAC personnel posted outside the Gorakhnath temple with a sharp weapon and then took him into police custody. An FIR has been registered against Abbasi under IPC for attempt to murder and other related sections.
Several teams UP Police are raiding places belonging to Abbasi, including the Mumbai house where Abbasi spent his childhood. The team also reached Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu where Abbasi's maternal grandmother is there.
Soon after the incident, Abbasi's father, Munir Ahmed, had claimed before the media that his son was suffering from mental illness which later turned into suicide. According to the family, Murtaza Abbasi started having mental health problems in 2017 and was kept under observation from many places.
