In Sharadiya Navratri the puja, garba, kanya puja, jagrata and other customs are made to appease nine goddesses of Navadurga.
Pandals are raised in different areas for putting up idols of Goddess. As per the hindu calendar the Navratri is the festival of nine nights in which goddess Durga had fought the demon Mahishasura.

While going by the Lunar calendar, the Pratipada tithi in Ashwin Shukla Paksha will start on the midnight of October 3, 2024 and ends in the mid of October 4, 2024.

The date of Sharadiya Navratri is from October 3, 2024 Thursday. This time, the Goddess is believed to travel on a chariot or doli or palanquin which she uses to carry things. Based on hindu mythology, sathi coming on a doli also signify natural disasters, epidemics as well as political unrest in the country.
Hindu epics are replete with stories of Lord Rama who was keen to start the battle with Ravana and could not wait to pray to the Goddess of Shakti. Before the final fight with Ravana, Hindu God Ram worshipped the Goddess for 9 days.

Satisfied with the devotion of Lord Rama the goddess Durga granted him victory. It is also stated in books like Vedas and Puranas that Navratri has significant relation with Lord Rama only.
Sharadiya Navratri is observed from the first day of the bright half of the lunar month Ashwin till ninth day of the bright half of this month. This is because it takes place in the month of October when the climate is still good this festival is known as Sharadiya Navratri.
In Hindu tradition it is believed that goddess Durga in her divine form fought with Mahishasura for nine days during Sharadiya Navratri for the good of the world and finally, on Vijayadashami won the battle by killing him and thus saved her devotees.
