Major accident in Alappuzha, Kerala, accident of car carrying ISRO employees, 5 killed
According to officials, the five men were contractual employees at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) mess in Thiruvananthapuram and were on their way to Alappuzha to attend a marriage function. The deceased have been identified as Prasad, Manu, Amal, Sumod and Shijin Das.
Five employees working at an ISRO unit were killed in an accident in Kerala's Alappuzha district in the early hours of Monday. According to sources, the incident took place when the car carrying the workers collided with a truck. Four of them died on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. All the five bodies have been taken to Alappuzha Medical College and they will be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem.
The accident took place at Ambalapuzha near Alappuzha when a car rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction, police officials said. He told that all the five people in the car died in the accident. According to officials, the five men were contractual employees at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) mess in Thiruvananthapuram and were on their way to Alappuzha to attend a marriage function. The deceased have been identified as Prasad, Manu, Amal, Sumod and Shijin Das. The age of all of them was between 24 and 30 years.
Police said all five people in the car were killed. The driver and helper of the truck are in custody. The car was completely damaged in the accident. Local people, police and fire officials cut the car and took out the dead from them.
