IAS Syed Riaz Ahmed, accused of molesting an IIT student in Khunti, sent to jail
Ahmed was taken into custody by the police on Monday night after registering an FIR on the complaint of an IIT student in this regard. Ahmed is a 2019 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Syed Riyaz Ahmed was arrested by the police and sent to jail on Tuesday for allegedly molesting an IIT student from Himachal Pradesh, who was on internship in Jharkhand's Khunti district. Ahmed was taken into custody by the police on Monday night after registering an FIR on the complaint of an IIT student in this regard. Ahmed is a 2019 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service.
Khunti Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar said, “A girl student from Himachal Pradesh, who came here for internship from IIT, was posted in Khunti district for allegedly coercing and indecent behavior at her residence on July 2. SDM and Indian Administrative Service officer of 2019 batch Syed Riaz Ahmed was taken into custody on Monday night.
Kumar told that the IAS officer is accused of forcibly kissing the victim at his residence on Saturday, July 2 and then abusing her. He told that IIT students who came here in their internship program were invited by SDM Riyaz Ahmed to a party on July 1 at his official residence. According to the victim student, when she was about to leave the SDM residence along with her other colleagues in the morning of July 2 after a night-long party, the IAS officer allegedly forced her to take advantage of being alone and tried to kiss her.
