Today, May 28 we celebrate Vinayak Damodar Savarkar's birthday who passed away on February 26, 1966.
He formed the Hindu nationalist political theory of Hindutva and contributed to India's independence. He stopped the caste system in the country and asked the people who had changed their religion from Hindu, to convert their religion to Hindu again.
His followers later added the word "Veer," which means "brave," to the beginning of his name.
